Methods

Materials
1. Balsa Wood (as long as possible for cutting down into size)
(about 50 cm x 0.5 cm x 0.5 cm) (about 6-8 sticks)
2. Hot glue gun (2 glue sticks for hot glue gun)
3. Cardboard base (25 cm x 25 cm)
4. Plastic Container (Diameter of 15-20 cm)
5. Weights (50 kg worth of weights, ranging from 5 kg-20 kg weights)


Risk Assessments
1. Splintering from the wood
(prevented by wearing gloves)
2. Cuts from construction
(prevented by careful use of sharp materials)
3. Fingers or body parts crushed by weights
(prevented by exercising caution when using weights)
4. Burns from hot glue gun
(prevented by wearing gloves and not to use the hot glue near skin)
5. Fingers stuck together from glue
(prevented by wearing gloves)




Procedures

Pillar Design:
1. Cut 9 sticks of balsa wood of 20 cm
2. Glue the sticks of balsa wood together in the format of 3x3
3. Cut out 5 sticks of balsa wood of 9 cm
4. Glue them side by side to make a base
5. Layer the top of the base in the opposite direction the balsa wood is facing
   (about 14 sticks of 2.5 cm)
6. Stick the structure from step 2 in the middle of the cardboard base as shown     
7. Stick the top base from step 5 on the top of the pillar on the cardboard base as         
   shown below in Fig 4

Criss-Cross Design:
1. Cut out 5 sticks of balsa wood of 9 cm
2. Glue them side by side to make a base
3. Layer the top of the base in the opposite direction the balsa wood is facing
   (about 14 sticks of 2.5 cm)
4. Cut out 4 sticks of balsa wood of 20 cm
5. Stick one stick from step 4 to each corner of the base made in step 3
6. Stick the whole structure to the cardboard base
7. Cut 2 sticks of balsa wood of 8 cm
8. Cut 2 sticks of balsa wood of 1.5 cm
9. Stick the 8 cm stick in between and in the middle of the 20 cm pillars where  the                              
   gap is the widest of the two sides
10. Stick the 1.5 cm stick in between and in the middle of the 20 cm pillars where   
     the gap is the smallest of the two sides
11. Cut 4 sticks of balsa wood of 12.8 cm
12. Cut the edges of the 4 sticks so that the ends are in the shape of an arrow
13. Stick the sticks diagonally in between the pillars of 20 cm, both on top and
      below of the stick that have been stuck in the middle from step 9 as shown  
      below in Fig 5.

Tripod Design:
1. Cut out 5 sticks of balsa wood of 9 cm
2. Glue them side by side to make a base
3. Layer the top of the base in the opposite direction the balsa wood is facing
   (about 14 sticks of 2.5 cm)
4. Cut out 6 sticks of balsa wood of 22 cm
5. Cut each end of the sticks to be diagonal but each end to be cut in the direction
   of the other end
6. Stick four sticks on each corner of the base from step 3, however, stick it in a
   way such that the sticks come out of the base at a 45˚
7. Stick the rest of the sticks in the middle of the longest side of the base
8. Finally, stick the whole structure on the cardboard base as shown in Fig 6.

Combined Structure:
1. Cut 9 sticks of balsa wood of 20 cm
2. Glue the sticks of balsa wood together in the format of 3x3
3. Cut out 5 sticks of balsa wood of 9 cm
4. Glue them side by side to make a base
5. Layer the top of the base in the opposite direction the balsa wood is facing
   (about 14 sticks of 2.5 cm)
6. Stick the structure from step 2 in the middle of the cardboard base
7. Stick the top base from step 5 on the top of the pillar on the cardboard base
8. Cut out 4 sticks of balsa wood of 20 cm
9. Stick one stick from step 4 to each corner of the base made in step 7
10. Stick the whole structure to the cardboard base
11. Cut 2 sticks of balsa wood of 8 cm
12 Cut 2 sticks of balsa wood of 1.5 cm
13. Stick the 8cm stick in between and in the middle of the 20cm pillars where the
      gap is the widest of the two sides
14. Stick the 1.5 cm stick in between and in the middle of the 20cm pillars where the gap is the smallest of the two sides
15. Cut 4 sticks of balsa wood of 12.8 cm
16. Cut the edges of the 4 sticks so that the ends are in the shape of an arrow
17. Stick the sticks diagonally in between the pillars of 20 cm, both on top and
     below of the stick that have been stuck in the middle from step 13
18. Cut out 4 sticks of balsa wood of 22 cm
19. Cut each end of the sticks to be diagonal but each end to be cut in the
      direction of the other end
20. Stick each stick in the middle of each side of the base
21. Cut out 4 sticks of balsa wood of 8 cm
22. Cut one end of the stick into a diagonal shape
23. Stick each of the sticks on the diagonal beams with the diagonal side of the
     stick on the diagonal beam and the flat side on the board as shown below in   
     Fig 7.
